Ezra began playing the piano at age 7 and participated in local events and competitions in his hometown of Buffalo, New York, before leaving home at age sixteen to continue his studies at Interlochen Arts Academy. While a student at Interlochen, Ezra was chosen as a Finalist in the 2003 PianoArts Concerto Competition and a Semi-Finalist (Second Round) in the 2004 Oberlin International Piano Competition. From 2004-2008 Ezra continued his studies at the University of Michigan, where he was as a Finalist in the University of Michigan Concerto Competition. More recently, Ezra was chosen as a Finalist in the 2nd Annual G. Gershwin International Music Competition in 2015 and a Finalist in The American Prize Competitions for Solo Piano in 2016.
Ezra also has extensive experience as a collaborative pianist, having served as accompanist at Interlochen Arts Camp, Brooklyn Repertory Opera, the University of Michigan Gilbert and Sullivan Society, and Miami Summer Music Festival. His teachers of piano have included Frieda Manes, T.J. Lymenstull, and Christopher Harding.
