Ezra has been teaching piano since 2009 and has taught students of various ages from 5- and 6-year-olds to high school students and adults. His mission as a teacher is to foster excellence, nurture talent, and help develop musical literacy at all levels of experience.
Ezra’s piano students have consistently received Superior and Excellent ratings at State and local music competitions including: MMTA Student Achievement Testing, Sonata/Sonatina Festival, the GVSU 20th & 21st Century Music Festival, and the NFMC Gold Cup Program.
Believing that a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of Western music is beneficial for all musicians, Ezra structures his lessons to include a mixture of performance, technique, sight-reading, and musicianship skills.
Testimonials from student parents:
Ezra has been an excellent instructor for my daughter over the past few years. She has grown from a fledgling beginner to a confident young player, gaining skill and confidence as well as an appreciation for music. Ezra balances encouragement with high expectations that help her to improve. I would highly recommend lessons with Ezra to anyone looking to gain proficiency and joy in playing the piano!
Our son Henry (8) has taken piano lessons from Ezra for the last few years. During that time, he has progressed from playing basic notes to playing real music and developing an appreciation for piano. Ezra is the perfect mix of firm & fun + encouraging & educational. His love of music and commitment to sharing his knowledge with others is apparent. Henry is lucky to have him as a teacher.
Ezra has challenged my 13-year-old son over the last 2 years! We are so pleased with the progress our son has made with a variety of piano pieces – classical as well as “popular.” He has kept our son actively playing and progressing impressively with his piano skills! He communicates with parents frequently, and he connects and understands how to tap into a student’s potential! We have been impressed with his teachings! Highly recommend him!
